Program
Youth for Peace aims to provide a high quality peace education program for youth. The workshops encourage youth to think about peace, reflect on their own roles and responsibilities to create a more peaceful society, and to closely examine society around them. YFP provides a safe space away from the dangers of the streets, and temptations of destructive behaviour, such drugs, criminality and gangs. YFP also provides a psychological space for students to grapple with the larger questions in their society.
The YFP program aims at several key areas, necessary for youth to contribute to the development of a peaceful Cambodia. YFP aims to promote values of loyalty, justice, inner strength, patience and morality as the basis for non-violence. Every person’s right to freedom, justice and gender-equality are emphasized in all of our workshops and activities. All youth regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender or religion are invited to participate and contribute to the activities.
YFP’s program focuses on peace education, leadership skills, the Khmer Rouge tribunal, reconciliation, Human Rights, and youth participation in democracy. The program consists of workshops rooted in a participatory approach, supplemented by fieldtrips to link theory to practice. Other activities in the YFP program include community events, reflection trips, village dialogues, cultural exchanges, publications and libraries.
